The radio is sort of working. After powering it up using a variac to very slowly bring the mains power up to the nominal voltage the radio actually produces sounds from various medium and long wave radio stations. The short wave side of it doesn't appear to work yet though.

Things are not right in some areas, most notably some things are running warm/hot that shouldn't be. This is almost certainly due to leaky capacitors. I've decided to spend at least a little more time on it so the next job is to source replacement capacitors for the faulty ones.

Hey, just as an FYI, I've recently gotten a new-to-me Icom that will pump out 100W. Propagation is crap right now, but we might have a better chance of that sked!

Indeed, 100W should make a sked fairly easy, what are you using to power it, since I assume you are still going to be operating portable?

I've got a big-arse LiFePO4 battery pack that should work.

(I also have an old UPS that I've been meaning to pull the SLAB out of, so we'll see if I can use that as well, but the LiFePO4 was bought specifically for this purpose)

There's also a PS that I can run off mains power, but there's so much QRP chez moi that I don't plan to use it much.
